As much as I enjoyed my time in Brisbane in the mid 1980s, all doors to my professional life were closed to me and I was forced to return to Sydney with its many such opportunities. Shortly before my return to Sydney, I walked in the Brisbane CBD one day and as I was coming out of a shopping arcade, I found myself just about bumping into a very famous Asian athlete who was on tour there. Although he was looking elsewhere, my instinct told me to run! Unlike with Milan (my first soulmate) a few years previously, by this time I had learnt to listen and that’s exactly what I did – I immediately turned around and walked the other way, as fast as I could.

I discussed this encounter with Mike (name changed) with my flatmates in the boarding house I was staying at. One of them informed me that Mike was staying at the Hilton hotel where she worked and that she saw him there frequently. She then told me that he had written an interesting book and offered to get me his autograph. Since I don’t care much for sport, I wasn’t at all interested in further encounters of any kind. However, as synchronicity would have it, the flatmate kept pestering me to buy the book to the extent that I went to look for it in a couple of bookstores. Was ready to give up when it wasn’t available. I told myself to give it one more go and if I couldn’t find it in the third shop, to forget about it. So of course the third shop had the book that I started to read immediately and found quite revealing and interesting. In the meantime, my flatmate also managed to get me Mike’s prized autograph!

As soon as I finished reading the book, some physical force very strongly commenced to push me towards this man, to the point of my embarrassment and alarm. I was busy preparing for my trip to Sydney and wasn’t interested in meeting Mike. Then the flatmate advised that he was also leaving for Sydney and would be at the Hilton hotel there for a few days. We both arrived in Sydney around the same time and the force would not let go of me. I was guided to buying Mike the “Serving Humanity” book and continued being pushed towards him. I reluctantly prepared a package and with a beating heart made my way to the city hotel. The receptionist informed me that Mike was in his room and I was welcome to deliver the package myself. Unfortunately, my courage totally deserted me at this point and I chose to leave it at reception, to be delivered by hotel staff. I walked out of the hotel and felt the force leave me at once. Foolishly believing this to be the end of the matter!

Two months later, out of the blue, my left eye became inflamed. Having treated it with various drops for a while and unable to heal the inflammation, I was advised to have it checked out at the Eye Hospital. The tests produced a diagnosis of Iritis - a hideous, dangerous, painful and incurable disease that had the potential of robbing me of my eyesight. This was all I needed to hear! Over the next two years, I was subjected to a battery of all sorts of medical tests and treatments while doctors tried to find the cause. In vain, as with most of the thousands of others afflicted with this disease. For a while, I was treated in the Eye Hospital with dangerous steroids, by a stream of inexperienced doctors. One day a nurse noticed the frequent prescriptions and advised me to consult a specialist. Thus began a long and torturous battle with the medical profession, in an effort to save my eyesight.

Meanwhile, my twin soul Darryl (by now in spirit) and I were still strongly attached to each other. Though we were both quite happy living like this, all my health problems that started in my early 30s got worse with continued stressful life. I had never been sick before and was in a really bad way by the time I was 37. Afflicted with a variety of autoimmune diseases that the medical profession couldn’t diagnose, let alone cure, I was totally worn out from their treatments, the never ending visits, consultations and check ups, as well as arguments with them. Not to mention the financial burden! At one stage, I was convinced that I only had a year left on this planet if I didn’t do something to get better. It was time to look at alternative healing practices that I previously never believed in.

Eventually I found Adam Nichols, a chiropractor, homeopath, naturopath and herbalist with many other abilities, who immediately diagnosed my Candida from a live blood test, still not recognised by the medical profession. This illness caused me terrible problems and even though it was already dangerously in my blood stream by the time I consulted Adam, it thankfully didn’t develop into possible worse ones that could have easily killed me. It took us three months to bring it under control with various vitamins, herbs and potions that the doctors didn’t want to know about because they didn’t even recognise the illness at the time. The US Dr J P Trowbridge was one of the first ones who also gave me valuable personal advice to help bring it under control. As well as through one of the first books on the subject, his “The Yeast infection”. I am very happy to see that after many years of allowing women to suffer through this modern day illness and doing their best to convince us that it "was all in our heads", the Australian Health Department finally came to recognise and acknowledge Candida as the dangerous illness it is.

Since Adam is also a psychic healer, in the first instance, he rebuilt my previously destroyed chakras and sent me to various other healers for total rebalancing. A week before I visited one of them, Ted, Darryl cried and begged me not to leave him. I thought this an odd request as I had absolutely no intention of doing so. When I visited Ted, he immediately informed me I had a man standing next to me. I confirmed this and he asked me to say goodbye and allow him to leave with his guides. I had no intention of doing so. That’s when Ted explained to me about Lost souls.

Although I had heard about this concept before, at no time did the thought enter my mind that Darryl was one and that we were keeping each other from progressing further! The threat of losing him again was just too much as we stood there and cried together. Ted also explained that each human body is designed to house one soul only and that I was sick because Darryl was actually in my etheric body, i.e. that two souls were feeding from my physical one. And that I wouldn’t get better until we redressed this by separating! He managed to convince me and I reluctantly asked Darryl to leave. This second parting totally broke my heart as we both left in different directions, crying our eyes out. We both felt the separation and were instructed to make a conscious effort not to think about each other for a while.


Lessons learnt:

• ALWAYS follow your inner voice, i.e. intuition
  
  
• Recognise life’s lessons being presented to you as soon as you can
  
  
• Don’t hold onto anyone or anything, go with the flow
